Please note CRED are currently not running any team trips for schools to Thailand
Pastor E is a Karen church leader that CRED partners with and who works with the Karen people and communities impacted by the war and ethnic oppression that has taken place in Burma for many years. Pastor E takes a lead role in being the voice of the Karen people locally, and also provides humanitarian support and care for children and families of the conflict, whether internally-displaced or refugees. CRED supports his work in a refugee camp and a first generation refugee village close to the Thai / Burma border.
The Thailand CRED Team Trip is an opportunity to travel to the Thai / Burma border and spend time working alongside Pastor E with the Karen refugee people. A key part of the trip will be delivering a five-day activity week providing fun, creative and educational activities for 2 large groups of children and young people in the Karen Refugee Camp and also in a local refugee village.
Burma has a long history of civil war and violence and the Karen people group has suffered greatly. Many of them have fled the persecution to find relative but fragile safety just over the border in Thailand. Many of the children have seen and experienced horrific things in their short lives. The week itself is of significant benefit to those involved, informed as it is by child development theory, good teaching practice, and a spirit of fun and play. Local staff appreciate the input and new ideas, as well as the resources that are left behind, and any fundraising is given straight to the host project.
February or October half term or November - December.
