The Uganda CRED Team Trip is an opportunity to travel to Kampala in Uganda and spend time working with the Acholi community group. A key focus of the trip will be delivering basic literacy and numeracy sessions to Acholi children who are unable to go to school due to poverty, as well as running activity sessions of games, sports and crafts. There will also be visits to sustainability projects.
The trip is facilitated by Nkuru-Nziza Foundation, a partner of the CRED Foundation.
The Acholi people group come from the north east of Uganda but had to flee their tribal land during the 90’s when the Lords Resistance Army was terrorising the area in horrific ways. They now live in an informal settlement in Kampala, in very basic conditions with no running water, electricity or land-rights. There is a very high level of poverty and most of the children are unable to go to school. Our activity week will bring some fun and laughter into their world, as well as giving them access to some basic education.
The trips to Uganda run at various times during the year based on demand from UK cohorts. Options include February, July, August, October and November.
